St. Joseph Traffic Tickets
St. Joseph Municipal Court handles municipal code and ordinance cases filed by the city prosecutor. Court staff collect fines, prepare warrants and failure-to-appear notices, schedule bond forfeiture hearings, and transmit monthly reports to the city clerk, county circuit court, and Missouri DOR. The court tells people to come to court on the date shown on the ticket. A not-guilty plea is made by coming to court, where a trial date will be set.
A person may plead guilty by mail or by coming to Municipal Court to pay a fine. If the person wants to plead guilty but cannot pay that day, the court says the person should still come to court and may receive a new pay date. The court states that a person will not be arrested merely for not having money to pay, though indigent defendants may need to complete financial-status paperwork. The City of St. Joseph Form Center lists a Municipal Division Record Request Form and a Motion for Continuance. The form detail was not opened during research, so the safe use is narrow: the city Form Center is a place to locate municipal court forms, and the municipal court phone number is the source for questions.
